DRONEPORT OFFICIALLY OPENED AT HELIPORT EEMSHAVEN

07/09/2021

On Wednesday 07 July 2021, Ems Maritime Offshore (EMO), Groningen Seaports and the Offshore Wind Innovation Centre (OWIC) officially opened the new DronePort at Heliport Eemshaven. The airport for drones is geared towards the offshore wind sector. From here, innovative drone applications such as the transport of goods to offshore installations, emergency support and SAR operations, monitoring, mapping, surveying and inspections will be researched, initiated and carried out in the future.

DronePort Eemshaven will be built on an independent and open model, with space for start-ups and scale-ups focusing on applicable unmanned robotics technology, sensors, autonomy and artificial intelligence. Collaboration with other initiatives and/or other regions that bring benefits to the region is one of the goals and is actively encouraged.
DronePort Eemshaven supports the important role that the Eemshaven site plays for the energy sector with innovative applications in unmanned aerial technology.
